|Group Title:||Walking Group|
|Group Description:||Walks are usually 3 – 4 miles at a leisurely pace and are not strenuous. Strong footwear – not necessarily walking boots – is recommended as the ground can sometimes be wet underfoot. Waterproof outerwear would also be considered essential – although thankfully not always necessary. Regular members of the groups are encouraged to take responsibility for organising and leading a walk but there is no pressure to do so. After the walk some of us like to finish off with lunch in a local hostelry. Some prefer to head home – the choice is yours.|
|Group Leader:||Maureen Kelly|
|Group Status:||Open to all members|
|Venue:||Most walks are quite local – Downpatrick, Strangford, Ardglass, Crossgar, Dundrum. Details of the walk and meeting point are published on the website and in the monthly calendar.|
|Frequency:||First Thursday of every month|
|Duration:||Meet at 11.00am|
|Application Date:||Not Applicable|
Next Walk: Thursday November 2nd 2017. We are doing the woodland walk through the Tobar Mhuire Estate, Crossgar.
Meet at 11am in the car park at the Square in Crossgar. Coming from Downpatrick turn right into Market Street at the crossroads in the centre of the village - just beside AJ's Diner. The car park is on the left as you drive up.
Most of the walk is off road and may be muddy in places so strong footwear must be worn. It is approximately 3 and a half miles and is fairly flat for the most part with just one steepish climb.
